We found
Registry Fix to be a decent registry repair utility that is real easy
to use and will do a good job of keeping your computer running lean but
we didn't like the fact that you have to pay an additional $9.95 for
the automatic software update service and that it doesn't have a
built-in scheduler to automate the scan process
Systems Supported
Windows ME,
2000 & XP

Registry Fix Feature Set
For such a popular product we were expecting some really good things from
registry fix. Maybe its popularity has much to do with it being one
of the first commercially available registry repair products to the
market back in 2004
Scan
The full scan was fairly thorough but what we didn't like was the fact
that you had to scroll the screen to see the full list of errors as
the scan was progressing. Also there are no severity
indicators ( see screenshot 3 ) so it can be difficult to know whether to remove them or not
( as in to include them in your ignore list - guess work can be a
dangerous thing when dealing with the registry )
Automatic Backups ( in the Backup Controls button ) Registry Fix will back up your registry automatically in advance of running the
scan so any changes you make can be easily undone.
There is also a Full Registry Backup/Restore facility available but
strangely enough this is included in the Advanced Options
button.
Startup Program Manager ( in the Advanced Options button ) A really nice feature and something we have come to expect any
decent registry repair utility to have. You can easily remove or
restore any program from within this feature. You can actually
reduce boot up time of computer simply by disabling some programs
from here.
Add/Remove Program Manager ( in the Advanced Options button ) Another nice feature to have. Removes any incomplete or
uninstalled programs that may still reside in the add / remove
section of your windows control panel - in other words it will clean
up the junk left behind after uninstalling applications from your
computer
Browser Helper Object Manager ( in the Advanced Options button ) This is a handy little tool from registry fix that will allow
you remove any toolbar or add-on program that was added ( with
or without your consent ) to your browser - some toolbars are adware
in disguise and that can slow down your surfing speeds
considerably.
What is nice about this feature is you get to view the full details
of the add-on before it is removed from your browser ( it maybe
that you have intentionally installed a toolbar so you may not want
to remove it ).
RegistryFix.com
are one of the few companies that offer a great FREE online support
chat service where you can chat live to a support person between 5am
to 11pm EST daily and get all your questions answered immediately (
just as well they offer this as the help files in the software itself
are very limited)
We have found this service to be really effective and a great time
saver compared to having to wait for a reply by email. They do also
offer email support and usually respond with 48 hrs.
Safety
Registry fix offers the ability to perform full
registry backups in advance of running the scan and does gives a
description on each of the error it reports. We would have liked
to have seen a severity indicator included in the scan results and
would classify it as "safe" to use.
